Steam Locomotives
NA class
The NA class is a Victorian Railways 2-6-2 "Prairie" locomotive designed and built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in the USA. The first two were built by Baldwin, with the VR building the rest of the fleet at their own workshops. The locomotives were built for 2'6" narrow gauge experimental railways spread across Victoria.
Originally, the locomotives were delivered in the Baldwin green lined livery. The VR soon applied its own green livery of the late 19th century, not long replacing it with the Canadian Red and chocolate lining which 7A has been finished off in. Later on the locomotives adorned the all-over black which the majority of the VR fleet wore.
7A is built from an old Colonial Models kit. It features brass and whitemetal detail parts, a modified gearbox and utilises MicroTrains N scale couplers.
A mix of Steam Era Models Pass Car Red and Wagon Red has been used to obtain the red of the loco, while the chocolate is a Humbrol colour. Lining was applied with an elaborate application of masking tape and hand-painted brush work.
