P explosives wagon

In the 1950s, the Victorian Railways began a building program, producing 54 new type explosives vans. The vans made use of old four wheel underframes, such as those from the U/HD plant trucks. They were built in three batches.

The wagons were built with a plywood construction on the steel underframes. Originally, the vans were built with ventilators on the roofs, these were removed during the 1960s.

The SEM kits are representative of the first batch of 25 wagons. The kit includes decals, wheelsets, extensive instructions and diagrams. The modeller needs to supply their own couplers and paint.

Shunter's steps and handbrake have also been applied (sold separately) while the moulded on grab irons and uncoupling rod have been shaved off and replaced with brass wire for that little something extra.
