E bogie open wagon

The E open wagon was a bogie open wagon numbering just over 200, with all but two built at Newport Workshops. Most were used for general traffic, however during WWII, many were cut down for flats and later rebuilt. Others continued on as flats for use for tanker wagons or pole traffic.

The Steam Era Models kit is actually kitbashed from two sets of GY sides and two GY underframes, modified and glued together. Bogie pivots and bolsters are then formed and the side sills added to the bottoms of the former GY wagon sides. This model is finished off with wagon red and a light weathering.
